In recent months, Brits have been permitted to start travelling abroad again after months of lockdown. But travel options are significantly limited by the Government’s traffic light system, which splits countries into green, amber or red list restrictions.
When is the next travel update?
The Government is reviewing the travel traffic light system every three weeks.
The Department for Transport (DfT) said: “These regular review points will allow the government to balance helping the public to understand Covid requirements when travelling to England while allowing us to constantly evaluate the risk for different countries.”
The next update is expected to fall on either Wednesday, August 25 or Thursday, August 26, based on past precedent.
Which countries could change at the next travel review?
Five amber list countries could potentially turn green at the next travel review, according to the Telegraph.
The PC Agency suggested Poland, Bhutan, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Saudi Arabia could all be added to the green list.
The estimates were based on an analysis of Covid infection rates, the proportion of tests coming back positive and the level of vaccination.
However, some countries are at risk of turning amber or red at the next review too.
According to The PC Agency’s analysis, Israel, Croatia, Madeira and Lithuania, the Caribbean islands of Anguilla, Antigua, Turks and Caicos and Montserrat, could turn amber.
There have also been some reports that Turkey may move from the red list to the amber list at the next review.
According to the i, PC Agency analysis suggests Jamaica, St Lucia and Dominica are at risk of being added to the red list.

Morocco could also be listed as a red country in the next review.
However, the only way to know for sure where countries will be on the traffic light system is to wait for the outcome of the Government’s latest travel review.
Ahead of every travel review, there are many estimates about which countries could make their way onto the red, amber or green lists.
However, the Government’s travel list decisions have often been surprising and the criteria behind decisions are unclear.
