It all started with a simple gesture: Earlier this month, a passenger named Jack offered his business class seat to an 88-year-old economy passenger named Violet on their flight from New York to London.
“This tale of Jack and Violet has warmed all our hearts this Christmas, and inspired us to spread the festive love. On behalf of us and @RichardBranson, complimentary upgrades will be offered to the most ‘seasoned’ customer on board all our flights from today until 1st Jan 2020,” the airline tweeted on Christmas Eve.

The airline did not immediately return USA TODAY’s request for further comment.
A Virgin Atlantic flight attendant shared the story in a Facebook post on Dec. 10.
“Of the hundreds of flights I’ve operated, I’ve had the pleasure of looking after footballers, supermodels and some Hollywood movie stars but let me tell you about my two favourite passengers EVER!” flight attendant Leah Amy wrote.
Violet, a nurse, had traveled to New York to visit her daughter, Amy explained.
“Her dream has always been to sit at the front,” Amy wrote, “and Jack made that come true.”

Violet was also able to enjoy a roomy leather seat that folds flat into a bed. She was also able to enjoy Virgin Atlantic’s Upper Class meal service.
“You should of seen her face, when I tucked her in her bed after supper,” Amy wrote.
As for Jack?
“He then sat on the row of seats directly next to the economy toilets and never made a peep or asked for anything the rest of the flight,” Amy wrote. “No fuss, no attention, literally did it out of the kindness of his own heart, no one asked him too.”
