A ski holiday is a popular option in winter, and some of the most sought-after destinations are in Europe. However, with France banning Britons from the country for non-essential reasons, many holidays have been, once again, cancelled.

Britons dreaming of snow are in luck.

There are plenty of snowy options in the UK.

A ski staycation may be holidaymakers’ best bet this winter, with some good slopes right here in the country.

Statistically, the Met Office said Scotland, and the Cairngorms in particular, get the most snow.

With the Scottish ski season running between December and April, Britons have plenty of time to enjoy the snow.

The best snow is usually between January and March, but holidaymakers will still find plenty to do even outside of those months.

Cairngorm Mountain Resort came top on the list of best places to ski.

Home to the highest ski resort in Scotland, the Cairngorms National Park is a great winter destination.

Cairngorm Mountain is the sixth highest in Great Britain.

All levels of skiers will find something to their tastes and abilities, with the resort boasting 11 lifts and 32 runs.

Cairngorm was also found to have the most reliable snow conditions of Scotland’s ski centres, making it the perfect choice for holidaymakers in need of a snow adventure.

Coming second was Glenshee Ski Centre, the biggest ski resort in Scotland.

With 22 lifts and a ski and snowboard school, Glenshee is great for all abilities.

There’s also plenty to do further afield, with Braemar Castle, Balmoral and Loch Callater all easily accessible.

In third place was Lecht Ski Centre.

Popular with families and beginners, the small ski resort has 13 lifts and a ski school.
