A statement from Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said: “Beginning at 6:00pm tonight the whole Perth metropolitan area, the Peel region and the South West region will be going into full lockdown. This lockdown will last until 6:00pm on Friday.”

Those in the area will have to start at home except to buy essentials, for medical needs, to exercise once a day with one other person and for work if they cannot work from home.

UK to Australia travel rules

It is currently against the law for Britons to travel internationally unless you have a legally permitted reason.

Holidays and leisure travel are strictly illegal.

The Government advice on Australia currently states: “If you are arriving in the UK from Australia on or after 4am on 18 January you will need to self-isolate on your arrival unless you have a valid exemption.”
