Summer is finally here and the weather is gorgeous which makes it a little easier on Brits who won’t be travelling abroad.

After all, with so many restrictions on international travel many of us aren’t willing to risk it.

Not to worry though, because you can still enjoy sun, sea and sand here in the UK.

But, where are the best spots to go to?

Research by Holidaycottages.co.uk has showed the best beaches across the country…

They compared over 400 beaches across England, Scotland and Wales and assessed them on factors such as parking, toilets, lifeguards, cafes, water quality, accessibility, water sports availability, and how welcoming the beach is for dog owners.

Here are the results:

Saltburn Beach, Yorkshire

This sandy hot spot has been beloved by Brits since the Victorian era and there are pretty attractions close by such as the Italian Garden.

Plus, it’s considered to be one of the best surfing locations on the North Sea coast – meaning it’s perfect for those looking to learn the cool watersport.

Fistral Beach, Cornwall

Also any surfers dream beach this tropical-looking beach is near Newquay.

It’s seen as Cornwall’s “big wave” location with heights of 30ft, surf competitions and festivals.

The beach is backed by high cliffs and sand dunes making it a stunning area to explore.

Hemsby Beach, Norfolk

This pretty seaside spot near Great Yarmouth has cafes, restaurants and amusements for the ids to enjoy.

There’s also a Herring Festival and a Viking Festival in June for something different to do.

And, there’s a holiday park near by for an affordable overnight stay.

Tankerton Beach, Kent

Whistable’s Tankerton beach has a low tide making it an ideal choice for those who love to explore rockpools.

And, you can enjoy a picnic on the grass nearby and find things to do on Marine Parade.

There are lots of colourful beach huts too for the perfect Instagram snap.

Dovercourt Bay, Essex

This beautiful shingle beach allows jet skiing, sailing and windsurfing!

And, it’s not far from a boating lake and skate park.

A great choice for active families.

Plus, head to the nearby Hemford Water National Nature Reserve to try and spot their seals.

Camber Sands Beach, East Sussex

In the right weather this sandy beach is heaven for sunbathers.

It’s around five miles long so there’s plenty of room and those who want to avoid the crowds can find secluded spots to set up camp.

Alum Chine Beach, Dorset

If you head west away from Bournemouth’s pier then this award-winning spot is nearby.

You can rent the huts on the Blue Flag beached there’s even a pirate-themed adventure playground, land train and ice cream kiosks.

Known for its wide, exceptionally clean, sandy and shingle beaches it also had a variety of pubs, loos and lost children centres for safety.

Perranporth Beach, Cornwall

We’re obsessed with the blue waters and golden sand of this beach.

Horse riders can ride on the sand and there’s also surfing, sailing, pubs and cafes nearby.

Tresaith Beach, Ceredigion

Sitting in-between Aberporth and Penbryn is Tresaith Beach with its picturesque surroundings, quaint houses and colourful boats.

There’s also shop, cafes and a pub to explore and you can go rock pooling in the cove.

Saundersfoot Beach, Pembrokeshire

This sandy resort beach and harbour is popular with families and has a large car park.

Hills provide stunning views and there are regular events such as The World Cawl cooking championships.
