Dorset Woodland Retreats, based in the seaside town of Swanage, has a tiny wooden pod that promises a tranquil getaway among the private woodland. Dedicated to couples rentals, the hand-crafted accomodation was built in the summer of 2020, drawing inspiration from Scandinavian abodes for a cosy stay. Visitors can relax on the outdoor decking that has beautiful 360 degree views overlooking the Corfe hills down below that is home to a herd of deer and horses.
Those after a romantic weekend can watch the stars light up across the waves while curling up around the firepit or enjoy a late night barbeque.
Inside the pentagon-shaped pod is a double bed with a kitchenette that includes a kettle, mini fridge, cafetiere and more, alongside a dining table.
Keys will also be given to access a private bathroom just a short 10 metres walk away, with very modern features such as a power shower.
Dog owners looking to treat their four-legged friends can bring along well behaved pets too, who get their very own beds, towels and bowls.
Stonemason Nathan and his wife Steph, who currently living in Poole, are the owners of Dorset Woodland Retreats.
A self-confessed fan of the outdoors, the couple began hosting on their private land across Purbeck Valley in 2018, with plans to expand their business.
And nature enthusiasts don’t need to look too far for popular walking routes to take on, a private gate behind the pod will directly lead to the corfe hills.
This walk will take you either to the chalk formations of Old Harry Rocks, the village of Corfe Castle or even four miles for sandy views of Studland Beach.
Despite being fairly new to the hospitality industry, the resort has already gained AirBnb superhost status and an incredible 4.95 stars out of five from guests.
One person said: “We really enjoyed our stay in the Scandi pods! Great location, great area, everything as described and everything you need.
“Lovely view out into the neighbouring field where we frequently saw horses, pheasants and deer.”
Another review says: “Really beautiful little place, the setting is idyllic and the hut is really well kitted out! The bathroom is really new and clean, everything was spot on.
“Nathan was really communicative and the whole process was a breeze. We’d love to stay again in the future.”
If you fancy whisking your other half for an autumn break, September dates have almost been snapped up, but October still has some free to book.
Dorset Woodland Retreats Scandinavian pod costs £87 per night for two people, visit their AirBnb or Facebook page for more details.
