Jet2 gives away 1p holidays so you can spend a week in the sun

Holidaymakers looking to bag their summer break for a bargain are in luck – as Jet2 are flogging holidays for as little as 1p.

According to the Daily Record, the company is offering its 'Bid for a Break' promotion again, which means you could be in with a chance of winning a trip away for peanuts.

If you're desperate to travel for a break away in the sun you could bag a break by betting on a seven-day holiday for two to locations such as Tenerife, Bulgaria and Gran Canaria.

You may need to have your wits about you to get your hands on the holiday though, as there is one slight catch.

According to the rules, Jet2 says to win the treat in the sun you must offer the lowest bid.

As well as this it also has to be unique, which means you need to stand out from the crowd by being the only person to offer the amount.

The first prize of the year was given to a woman who managed to snap up a vacation to Turkey for as little as £14.46.

If you're keen to see if you can be a champion bidder, the next getaway available to snap up is a holiday to Tenerife where the lucky winners will stay at the four-star Gara Suites Golf & Spa in Playa de las Americas.

To be in with a chance of winning you need to submit your bid by midday on May 12.

The second break up for grabs doesn't open for bids until May 16, and is a holiday to the Kiani Beach Resort in Crete.

This will be followed by a bidding on May 30 for a trip to Gran Canaria's Abora Catarina by Lopesan Hotels.

People will also be in with a chance of bagging trips to destinations such as the Balearics, Canary Islands, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus and Turkey this year.

The campaign first started last year, and 23 people managed to secure holidays. The bid-offs saw people jet off to places such as Santorini, Majorca and the Algarve after bidding only £1.60, £5.70 and £8.51 respectively.

For those who aren't lucky enough to win, Jet2 will still reward all bidders with a special discount code which will see them get £60 off their next holiday.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: "With international travel now fully unlocked, we know how much UK holidaymakers want to get away to enjoy some much-needed sunshine, and we are delighted to relaunch our Bid for a Break campaign.

"The campaign was hugely successful last year and now, thanks to its return, we are once again giving holidaymakers the chance to get away in a fun way for potentially only a few pence."
