Benidorm may be renowned for its 80p pints and wild nightlife, but a UK seaside resort is giving it a run for its money.

While it may not have the likes of Sticky Vicky, Uncle Ron’s Big Benidorm Breakfast challenge, or a strip where you can drink for free, Bournemouth still has everything you could want for a boozy weekend away with the lads.

Like Benidorm, Bournemouth has beautiful beaches for the day – it even has two nudist beaches nearby – but come nighttime, it becomes a party hotspot, especially for stag and hen dos.

Although the booze isn't quite as cheap – which is typical of the UK versus Spain – with the average pint costing around £4 it won't be as expensive compared to other cities (for comparison, the average pint in London is £5.99). Plus, you won't struggle to find happy hour deals and cheap shots in the clubs.

It's also not surprising that Bournemouth is a firm favourite with stag and hen dos. Dozens of clubs and bars throw open their doors to the wild groups each summer.

Last Night of Freedom, a stag and hen do organising company, organised twice as many trips to Bournemouth in 2022 as Barcelona, with 76 groups visiting the coastal town in one weekend alone.

In fact, more stags and hens currently head to Bournemouth, beating out the likes of Ibiza and Krakow.

More nearly-weds and their followers currently head to Bournemouth for a final night of freedom than go to Ibiza and Krakow, with the town centre crammed full of boozed up lads dressed in wedding dresses, penis costumes and inflatable dinosaur outfits on a Saturday night.

Bournemouth's clubs have also upped the ante, with huge events, shot girls ferrying Jager bombs around the dance floor, confetti cannons and troupes of sparkler-carrying promoters serving heaps of booze.

Tiki Beach Bar, Aruba and Sunset Beach Club run along the seafront and let drinkers kick back in the sunshine on the warm summer nights. When the weather is good, the iconic Bournemouth beach can feel more like the Mediterranean than the Dorset coast.

Like Benidorm, Bournemouth also has a host of cheap hotels you can book for a quick weekend – for example Britannia has hotels from £30 a night, not to mention you won't struggle to find large homes you can rent for a party with your mates.

Once everyone has pulled themselves out of bed and to breakfast at one of the town's four Wetherspoons – the perfect spot for a breakfast at under £10 – there's plenty to do in the town during the day time.

You can find party cruises with onboard DJs and BBQs, go-karting, beer bike tours, and packages that offer the likes of outdoor spas and hot tubs, nude life drawing or even Spice Girls themed dance classes.
