Incredible £190k Covid-secure trailer comes with disinfecting UVC lighting

A new 'coronavirus-secure' trailer has been introduced to the market, which comes with hospital-grade air filters and UVC lighting that disinfects surfaces.

The trailer, called Terra Firma, has been created by Bowlus and is billed as 'ultra-premium'.

It also boasts a freshwater filtration system, a heated floor system, a GPS tracking feature and a bed for a dog.

However, you're going to have to save up if you want to buy one as prices start from a cool $265,000 (£193,159).

The trailer, which sleeps up to four people, allows the owners to live off-grid for up to two weeks in complete luxury.

Perfect for those who are missing their holidays during lockdown!

California-based luxury recreation vehicle firm Bowlus, who have made the trailer, says the exterior of the new limited-edition vehicle begins with a 'hand-welded spaceframe, shaped from aluminium tubing'.

The company said: "Eighty panels of polished, high-strength aerospace aluminium are then meticulously fastened to the frame by more than 5,000 aircraft-grade rivets, each scrutinised to meet aerospace specifications to be within 2/1000in of the specification – approximately half the thickness of a human hair.

"Craftworkers then spend more than 100 hours polishing the exterior so the shell can get its iconic, mirror-bright reflection."

The trailer weighs 3,200lbs and is 25ft (7.62m) long and over six-feet wide.

It has 'two huge skylights in the main cabin and an outdoor kitchen-ready setup, with electrical and propane outlets, which can additionally provide an emergency micro-charge to your electric vehicle'. This could extend the battery life of electric SUVs currently on the market for up to 16 miles, according to Bowlus.

According to the company, the trailer can be towed 'by the widest variety of vehicles of any travel trailer, including electric vehicles (EVs)' and adds that the 'clients’ chosen names are also emblemized on the fender skirts just before delivery as a finishing touch'.

On the technology side, the trailer boasts 'a smart brake controller for the triple-axis, motion-sensing accelerometer, and provides highly responsive, smooth braking to any tow vehicle without any modifications'.

It also comes with a 'user-intuitive touch screen panel displaying an instant overview of the proprietary Bowlus Power Management System, allowing settings to adjust intuitively and simply'.

This system can also be managed remotely through Bluetooth and the internet, and users can activate the likes of the heated floor system 'in advance of entry'.

Alongside air filters and UVC lighting, there is a freshwater filtration system which, according to Bowlus, 'instils confidence and peace of mind'.

More technology features that are included are a 'Find My Bowlus' GPS tracking feature, which allows 'chosen users to access one’s location to anticipate arrivals or view trip status to coordinate off-grid camping with friends and family'.

There is an 8 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery system to power the trailer. This can be fully charged within three to four hours – meaning the trailer can be used for up to two weeks without having to be connected to an external power source, says Bowlus.

The interiors are 'thoughtfully curated with fabrics that are transformed into designer seating and bedding by a brilliant seamstress team' and use colours that 'build on a feeling of ultra-comfort'.

Bowlus added: "The new Terra Firma colour story oozes with the relaxed vibe that comes with a lazy late afternoon watching a spectacular sunset.' "

The vehicle also comes with 'hotel-style en-suite bathroom and a spacious and a zen-like bedroom, able to convert from two twin beds to an incredible king, accommodating all travel companions'.

Those who want to take along their pet also won't have to worry as the trailer has 'remote temperature monitoring, feeding bowls that slide out seamlessly from a drawer, and a personalised canine bed' so 'every family member is comfortably included in the experience'.

Bowlus is currently taking order for the Terra Firma, with delivery expected in 2022.

The firm completed construction on the first aluminium riveted travel trailer back in 1934.
