Held at the luxury five-star hotel, The Goring, guests will not only enjoy some of the finest hand-made sandwiches and desserts, social media star Teddy the Shetland will be in attendance. With over 158,000 followers on Instagram, the small horse can be found waiting for photos in the Belgravia-based venue’s garden, who is currently the summertime ‘pony in residence’.
The tiny four-legged visitor is actually an extended family member owned by CEO Jeremy Goring’s cousins, Alice and Molly Goring.
Speaking to 2Chill, Jeremy said: “Teddy is our most famous family member and his residency is creating enormous excitement here.
“Chef Richard, Fernanda our head housekeeper, and all of the team are busily preparing his favourite home comforts.”
To honour Teddy’s exclusive stay, a ‘Trottini’ cocktails have been designed, a bright orange tipple that comes with a mini carrot, which are available to order until the end of August.
Keeping in line with the equestrian theme, there are limited edition horseshoe and pony-shaped cakes, with mini apple crumble tarts and Teddy’s favourite treat, carrot cake.
Diners have the option to enjoy their afternoon tea either on the outdoor terrace or on picnic rugs in the garden, both of which are close to the Instagram star’s purpose-built garden stable.
The Goring is already well-known as the only UK hotel to have been granted a Royal Warrant by the Queen for its hospitality services.
The high-end London hotel is where Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge stayed ahead of her wedding to Prince William at Westminster Abbey in 2011.
Last month, The Goring launched new wedding package deals named ‘The Night Before’ and ‘The Wedding Night’, offering brides and grooms-to-be a chance to stay in The Royal Suite.
According to their website, horse-themed afternoon tea is fully booked, but don’t be too disappointed, guests staying can still meet the Shetland by booking a Teddy overnight package, which starts from £585.
The Goring’s afternoon tea sessions run Monday to Friday from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, and from 1.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
Teddy’s last day before checking out is on Tuesday, August 31 – so if you want your photo opportunity, book your table or visit now.
