Flight attendants warn passengers never to lean on plane windows

It’s thought that Brits may be able to go on holiday once again this summer to select countries with low Covid infection rates.

And, that means that some of us might be boarding aeroplanes for the first time in months.

While most of us are used to flying, the pandemic has us all a little more hygiene-minded.

And, it turns out that there are some areas of planes that are less clean than you’d think.

A cabin crew member, Linda Ferguson, told Reader’s Digest about one place you should never rest your head while flying.

Linda, who was a flight attendant for 24 years, said that you should never lean on the wall next to a window seat.

After all, passengers will have coughed and sneezed against the surface or touched it with dirty hands.

Linda said: “I see plenty of people carry Lysol wipes with them that will wipe the area around their seat.

“If there was a backlight and they could light up a plane with all the germs, I think it would petrify everybody.

“My rule of thumb, and I never get sick, is I never put my hands in my mouth or near my face."

You should also try and wipe down the tray tables – and never eat something that drops on it by accident.

Cabin crew over on Reddit explained the tray tables are germ-central, reports the Express.

One person wrote: “The tray tables are gross.

"Can't even remember how many times I've seen babies changed on them, people puke on them, people bleed on them…

"They're supposed to be cleaned nightly, but I wouldn't put food directly on them.

“Nope nope nope!"

Another added: “If you're flying short-haul, definitely bring antibac wipes or sanitiser.

“A lot of airlines will have the crew 'turnaround' the plane meaning they pick up your rubbish, fold your seatbelt over, file your magazines in the seat pocket and then welcome new passengers on board.

"I have lost count of the number of times I have had to tell people how disgusting it is to change their baby on the tray table or in a seat."

Like what you see? Then fill your boots…

Apparently, the seat pockets are just as bad as they’re cleared of rubbish, but not cleaned.

A cabin crew said: “I have pulled out and seen all sorts been pulled out from there.

"Dirty tissues, sick bags, knickers, socks, peoples feet, gum, half sucked sweets, apple cores… and then next flight you go and put your phone/laptop/iPad in there."

Gross.

Hopefully, in the wake of the pandemic, cleaning routines will have been improved.
