Flight attendant says plane toilets aren’t the dirtiest part of the plane

A flight attendant has opened up online about the dirtiest parts of a passenger plane that you should avoid using.

Most of us know that when we board a flight there are going to be some places that are less clean than others.

And, cabin crew in the past have warned Brits to wear trousers on planes to avoid their bare legs touching the filthy seats, not to mention that we should try to use tissue to touch the toilet door handle and flush for obvious reasons.

However, a TikTok poster and flight attendant, who goes by Flightbae.B, claims the loo isn’t the grossest place on the plane.

Apparently, she advises against putting your things in the pocket on the back of the seat in front of you., reports the Sun.

She explained: "Did you know that seatback pockets are actually the dirtiest surface on the aircraft?

"They're dirtier than the lavatories, they're dirtier than the seat cushion, and they're dirtier than the tray tables. Let me tell you why.

"It's because they are never cleaned".

She added: "Unless somebody vomits or there is something ooey or gooey in there, it doesn't get cleaned.

"All cleaners do is go in and take out the trash.

"So all of those germs have accumulated and there is no regular cleaning of those surfaces, whereas the lavatories are regularly wiped down and sanitised."

The video quickly went viral and has now secured over 3,500 likes and 24,000 views.

In the comments, people were gobsmacked by the information.

One person wrote: “This is very true! I once saw a parent place a used diaper in the seat back pocket.”

“I usually put my phone there,” another gagged.

A third added: “Never touching it again.”

And another noted: “I didn’t need to know this. I fly a lot. Ugh.”

Previously, cabin crew member Tommy Cimato noted his flying hygiene tips.

"Do not fall asleep or lean your head on the window,” said Tommy.

“You are not the only one that has done that and you don't know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things all over the window.”

That leads him on to his tip about not wearing shorts and he imparts the sort of advice that once you’ve heard you’ll probably never forget.

“Don’t or try not to wear shorts when you're on an airplane,” he continued.

“It's the same thing as the window – you never know how clean it's going to be, so if you have pants, you're going to have less germs.”
