Britons planning a UK holiday in 2022 may wish to explore the great British outdoors. With 2021 a great year for camping, many holidaymakers spent nights at campsites all over the country.
The best campsites of 2021 have been named by Pitchup.
The booking platform said holidaymakers should “book quickly to avoid disappointment” for holidays in 2022.
Cripps Farm Caravan Park, Somerset
With 100 percent of past guests saying they would recommend the site and stay there again, Cripps Farm is bound to be as popular in 2022 as it was in 2021.
Sean C wrote: “Paradise. This really was the best place we have ever stayed at.
“From the lovely welcome to lovely immaculate pitches the wonderful views so peaceful, facilities were fantastic and so clean.
“We liked everything from books to fresh produce being delivered and ice cream van, but the use of the hot tub and sauna was the absolute icing on the cake it made a perfect stay even more perfect.
“Total delight that we will come back to as soon as we can.”
Moelfryn Caravan and Camping Park, Carmarthenshire
Close to the Wales Coast path, this campsite offers scenic views across the Teifi valley.
Tahnee A said: “A different level of peacefulness.
“The site is immaculately kept, the toilet and shower facilities are five stars, the views and surrounding villages are beautiful and the host Rose is so helpful.
“There’s a fabulous shop a five-minute drive down the road with anything you could possibly need at great prices. We can’t wait to come back!”
Inside Out Camping Yurts at Seatoller, Cumbria
The Lake District yurts were popular with guests this year.
Ian H wrote: “The area was really beautiful, literally in the mountains, surrounded by sheep fields and a waterfall. There is a river that runs alongside the site which is swimmable and didn’t feel cold (once we got in).
“The Yurt had everything in it we needed including a log burner that kept us warm on that odd cold evening and allowed us to dry those wet clothing after a very wet mountain hike.
“The campsite is about a 15-minute drive through the scenic valley to Keswick winding its way along the base of mountains, along the shore of Derwent water which in itself added to the whole experience.”
Naturesbase, Lampeter
Campfires are encouraged or guests can try out the on-site pizza oven.
The farm has an overall rating of 10 out of 10 and guests say it is a “relaxing family site perfect for children and dogs”.
Tanwen R said: “Closest I’ve felt to proper camping but with all the amenities and exceptional extras.”
Cwmcoedog Farm, Ceredigion
The glamping pods are located five miles from Cardigan Bay, where guests may be able to spot dolphins.
Nicola M said: “The campsite is in such a beautiful spot.
“The option of the pizza oven and hot tub and also the kayaks really meant you could happily stay on site and enjoy these activities together and this really appealed to us.”
The Hut at Hafod Las, Wrexham
Another welsh campsite, The Hut at Hafod Las is a custom-built shepherd’s hut in North Wales.
Paula T wrote: “It was so peaceful with the lovely chimes of the village church and birds and sheep for company.
“The village pub was only a few minutes walk away which we enjoyed an evening meal at with glorious views. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed visiting Llangollen and Betws-y-Coed.”
Coutts Glamping, Cornwall
With and award-winning pub a few minutes away and the peaks of Bodmin Moor in the distance, this glamping site ticks all the boxes for the perfect staycation.
Katy S described the site as “a boutique, clean and welcoming glamping site in a gorgeous location”.
Dingles Glamping, Powys
Glamping was popular last year, and Dingles offers a choice of pods or yurts with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Raymond L said: “The site is very clean, tidy and peaceful.
“The pod itself is set next to and underneath a beautiful old oak tree and the views are picture perfect.
“With the pod we had use of a fully equipped kitchen set up in the unused stable.”
Well Farm, Cornwall
The glamping site is on a working farm near Bude and was a favourite with holidaymakers in 2021.
Ellie W wrote: “Lovely, clean and homely space with exceptional facilities, kind hosts and beautiful scenery!
“Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend for a peaceful and luxury getaway and the added hot tub was amazing.”
Wimbleball Holidays, Somerset
Another farm site, this time in Exmoor National Park, Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve.
Amy A said: “We loved everything about our stay. The quiet small site, exceptionally clean facilities, hot showers, use of fridge and freezer, amazing access to the lake, short walk to the dam and activity centre.
“It’s the first place we’ve been camping and wanted to extend our stay. Very relaxed and will definitely be back.”
