Short-form video social media app TikTok is becoming a go-to for prospective holiday makers for travel tips and inspiration thanks to its money-saving hacks and first-person experiences.
There is no better festive getaway than a quick trip to a Christmas market, and with #Christmasmarkets getting just under 160 million views on TikTok, Brits are turning to the video for advice on where to go.
To assist would-be visitors, discount codes and deals provider Savoo has analysed TikTok hashtag data of #(city)christmasmarket for 40 popular European cities.
Using the data, the study has revealed the most popular Christmas markets as well as the best value locations – analysing metrics such as cost of travel, accommodation, food, and drink.
1. London, United Kingdom
London is the most popular city in Europe for Christmas market-lovers according to TikTok, with 15.4 million hashtag views on the social media platform.

Hyde Park’s iconic Winter Wonderland is incredibly popular, with #londonwinterwonderland gaining over six million views by itself – enough to put it third place on this list.
Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, London is also the seventh best value Christmas market in Europe, with 47 Christmas events for visitors to enjoy.
2. Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Continuing to fly the flag for the United Kingdom’s Christmas markets, Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh, is the second most popular European Christmas market on TikTok with 13.7 million views.
Running until January 6, Edinburgh’s Christmas market takes over the historic city centre and is an ultimate Yuletide getaway.
