‘Colourful’ seaside town is a highlight of one of the UK’s best coastal walks

September is the perfect time to head out on a coastal walk. With so many beauty spots across the country, Britons are spoilt for choice.

Luckily the expert team at Fitflop have put together a helpful list of the UK’s most beautiful coastal walks.

One of England’s most stunning seaside strolls is located on the coast in South Devon and ends in a seafood paradise.

The walk from Torcross to Brixham is 21 miles long so tourists might want to break it into different sections.

A Fitflop spokesperson said: “This South Devon walk combines open fields, rugged headlands, woodlands and Dartmouth’s vibrant art galleries and boutiques, finishing in the colourful port town of Brixham which has excellent fish restaurants.

“Starting gently, the walk takes you along the Slapton Sands shingle beach, rising up the more rugged cliffs to Dartmouth.

“From here to Brixham you’ll then pass a 15th century castle at Kingswear and spot birds such as skylarks, cirl buntings and linnets above Forward Point.”

Brixham is one of Devon’s prettiest seaside towns and the perfect place to start or end a coastal walk in the county.

‘Elliemo1996’ said: “Pretty harbour with lots to do. Fabulous quaint fishing harbour, lovely ambience and friendly locals. Nice restaurants and great to watch the birds, swans and if lucky, a seal.”

Slapton Sands is a beautiful pebble beach and is home to some of the UK’s rarest flora and fauna. If the water’s calm, it’s the perfect spot for watersports.

At Dartmouth, tourists will find independent boutique shops and some of the region’s prettiest historic streets.

If Devon’s a little far away, why not check out one of the country’s other beautiful coastal walks?
