Cherry blossom festival coming to Victoria

While spring may still be a little way off, the Yarra Valley’s upcoming Cherry Hill Blossom Festival is a welcome reminder that warmer, sunnier days are just around the corner.

The Cherry Hill Blossom Festival will be held at Cherry Hill Orchard in Victoria’s Yarra Valley from September 18 to October 3 this year, coinciding with school holidays.

There will be live music, craft stalls, lawn games, on-site food trucks and plenty of cherry-themed treats like cherry ice cream and drinks.

This year, there are also several optional extras which you can add while booking your tickets.

If you’re feeling particularly extra, you can always book a Posh Picnic, which includes your own private row of cherry blossoms, along with a fully catered food and beverage package.

Romantics might like to savour a sunrise Yarra Valley ballooning experience, prior to the festival. There’s even a special one-hour photographic walking tour, in partnership with Nikon.

And if the Tokyo Olympics have left you hanging for a taste of hanami (Japanese cherry blossom) season at home, you can even add Uminono premium sushi and sashimi boxes.

The Cherry Hill Blossom Festival is a fully ticketed event, so make sure you book ahead at cherryhill.com.au.

Festival is subject to possible restrictions

With Delta outbreaks in multiple states, including Victoria, at the moment, the event organisers said they were “cautiously optimistic” about going ahead with the festival and have reduced capacity numbers for safety.

“It is important to book in advance to secure the time and date that you wish to visit our orchard, which helps us manage capacity numbers in light of potential Covid-19 restrictions that may take place during the event,” the website says.

“In the event that our 2021 Blossom Festival is cancelled due to lockdown restrictions, you will be automatically issued with a full refund for general admission tickets.”
