‘Every window told a story’: Candid TikTok video of passengers on Scotland-bound train is declared ‘a masterpiece’ by viewers

Forget special effects, an A-list cast and a multimillion-pound budget – to make a film that’ll mesmerise millions all you need is a smartphone and a passenger train, it seems.

Student Aisha Khan, 20, proved this point after she held her iPhone to the window of a train she was on and filmed a service it overtook on a parallel track using a slow-motion filter.

The resulting TikTok clip – set to the song Vas by Jagger – has garnered around three-million views, over 160,000 likes and over 2,000 comments, with viewers mesmerised by the contrasting scenes in each carriage and one person declaring the 44-second video ‘a masterpiece’.

Passengers featured in the candid clip include commuters, a member of a stag-do dressed as Goldilocks, exhausted passengers hunched over their tables – and a man standing in a carriage vestibule facing the door with his hand underneath his shirt.

TikToker account ‘@chloeelainelewis’ said: ‘Someone there is having their worst day whilst another is having one of their best days, and all on the same train without them knowing.’

Justin Parkan, meanwhile, said he was getting ‘big Wes Anderson vibes’ from the clip and Joey Finch perhaps spoke for every viewer when he commented: ‘Every window told a story… especially the door.’

Khan took the video in February while travelling to Darlington on an LNER service, with the train she filmed an LNER service from London to Stirling.

A feeling for many is that the clip should be turned into an LNER advert.

Khan told the Northern Echo that the reaction to the video has been ‘absolutely crazy’.

She said: ‘I’ve had interest from LNER, ITV and a lot of others. It’s nice to know it made an impact.

‘Hopefully I can follow it up with a lot of other similar content.

‘I don’t think of myself as talented in film or anything, but I decided to hold my phone up to the window and put a slow-motion filter on it.

‘I posted it on the day I got [home from] the journey thinking it would get a few thousand views like my others, but I woke up the next morning to millions of views, shares and comments.’
