With holidays in England set to restart from April 12, many holiday parks across the country are making plans to reopen their doors to self-catered holidaymakers, as well as camping and caravan trips. Meanwhile, some holidays in Scotland and Wales have already resumed. Here are the latest updates from some big-name providers across the UK.
Center Parcs
Centre Parcs has provided a new update following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest update on his “roadmap” out of lockdown.
It explained: “Following the UK Government announcement on their roadmap for reopening society over the coming weeks and months, we will be reopening our UK villages and welcoming our guests back from 12th April.”
The reopening includes its Sherwood Forest, Elveden Forest, Longleat Forest, Whinfell Forest and Woburn Forest locations.
All holidays prior to April 12 have been cancelled by Center Parcs.
The holiday provider confirmed: “All guests impacted by a closure will have the option to change dates with £100 discount or cancel and claim a full refund.”
Guests due to visit the holiday parks between April 12 and May 16 will experience some changes to facilities and amenities on offer in line with Government guidelines.
Lodges will remain open, however, hotel rooms and apartments will be unavailable during this time.
Only one household per lodge will be permitted.
Restaurants will be open, but will only operate a collection and delivery service, or outdoor dining subject to the rule of six.
Some indoor and outdoor activities will be available to book only, including Aerial Adventure, Adventure Golf, badminton, squash and fencing.
All spa facilities will be open with the exclusion of Elveden Forest.
Most retail outlets on site will be open with social distancing measures in place.
However, the Subtropical Swimming Paradise will remain closed.
“As the Subtropical Swimming Paradise will be closed during your break, you will receive a discount based on the size of your booked accommodation if you wish to continue with your break,” states Center Parcs website.
As the “roadmap” out of lockdown progresses more facilities will begin to reopen in line with Government guidance.
Haven
Haven has already reopened its holiday parks in Scotland and Wales, with plans to reopen its English parks from April 12.
However, only self-catering breaks in England will be on offer until May 16.
From May 17 touring breaks will restart, and further break will resume from June 21.
In Wales, touring holidays will resume from April 12.
For those visiting an English park before Monday, April 12, guests will be given the option to move their break to a later date or take credit towards a holiday later in the year. They can also request a full refund.
Haven assures it will contact all impacted customers via email.
For those who are due to visit from April 12, any updates will be sent to customers via email.
“All our accommodation will be open, however, we’ll only be able to welcome one household per unit,” explains Haven.
“Restaurants and bars will be open but limited to outdoor areas only.
“The majority of our facilities and activities will be running (unless otherwise mentioned) including indoor and outdoor pools, indoor and outdoor activities and outdoor restaurants and bars.”
Some facilities will remain closed in line with the Prime Minister’s roadmap out of lockdown.
These include show bars, indoor dining, creative activities, indoor play, target shooting at Primrose Valley, Airspace at Combe haven and Blue Dolphin, indoor slides and flumes, indoor splash zones in swimming pools and the outdoor splash zone at Marton Mere, outdoor pools at Berwick and Wild Ducks until April 12, and swimming pools at Rockley Park until April 30.

Pontins
Pontins is set to reopen all of its holiday parks from Monday May 17, 2021.
A statement on the holiday firm’s website reads: “We will keep making arrangements and working towards welcoming you back to our restaurants, bars and entertainment venues for our full Pontins Holiday experience.
“For reservations booked prior to our reopening, we will be able to offer you a change of date for this year or offer to move your holiday to the same date next year.
“We are still experiencing a high volume of enquiries with limited resources; we will be in touch with anyone affected as soon as we can so please bear with us.”
Butlins
Butlins has outlined plans to reopen its resorts on May 17.
“For guests with breaks between 15th March and 16th May, as always, we’ll be in touch via email, SMS or letter to discuss your options,” explained the travel provider.
Customers will be given the choice of three options to select.
They can move their holiday to a different break in either 2021 or 2022. This decision can be made on the spot, or at a later date by opting for holiday credit.
Alternatively, customers can request a full refund via the Butlins website.
Parkdean
Following the Prime Minister’s latest address on the roadmap out of lockdown, Parkdean Resorts has issued an update on its website.
Parks in England and Wales are due to open from April 12, meanwhile, parks in both Scotland are due to reopen from April 26.
However, some facilities will remain closed across all parks until the next step in the Government’s roadmap.
In England, this is May 17, when the rule of six indoors will come into force.
Amenities in England that will be open in time for April 12 holidays include click and collect services from restaurants, outdoor dining, indoor pools in line with Government restrictions, outdoor sports and activities, some indoor activities, convenience stores and onsite launderettes.
However, other facilities such as kids shops, performances, soft play and indoor dining will remain closed until May 17.
Camping and Caravanning Club
The Camping and Caravanning Club has a variety of reopening dates depending on the location of its Club Sites.
In a statement on its website, the Camping and Caravanning Club explains: “With the latest Coronavirus restrictions all our Club Sites in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are currently closed. Our Club Sites in Wales are now open subject to Welsh Government regulations.
“We are monitoring the latest updates from across the four nations and are planning to open our full site network as soon as we are able.
“We will be opening without facility blocks and communal areas at the start of the season. We hope that many of our campers with their own facilities will still be able to enjoy a stay with us, we’ll be accepting campers with proper chemical toilets that can be disposed of via waste disposal points, and a toilet tent can be put up on your pitch.”
In England, sites will reopen on April 12, but solely for self-contained holidays meaning facility blocks will remain closed.
Though campsites in Wales are now open, some rules remain in place.
“Our campsites are open for campers who live in Wales,” states the campsite provider.
“Sites will not be able to take visitors from England until 12 April at the earliest, when the Welsh government hopes it will be able to change rules to allow travel into and out of Wales from the rest of the UK.
“Please note, residents in Scotland and Northern Ireland may still have travel restrictions in place for a period of time after April 12, preventing wider travel – we will update our website once we have further information.”
Sites in Scotland will not open until April 26 at the earliest.
Sites in Northern Ireland may reopen from April 12 at the earliest, though the Camping and Caravanning Club adds it is “awaiting further details”.
Across all sites, safari tents and pods will not reopen until May 17.
