Spring is finally here, but the British weather clearly hasn’t noticed yet.
It’s been gloomy and grim all of March prompting many of us to deeply desire a holiday.
Perhaps nobody feels the pinch of the cold more than the UK’s nudist community.

There are lots of local events being run for those who love to get their kit off, and there are even a number of British naturist resorts to stay in.
However, we’re pretty sure that it’s no fun stripping off in the cold.
Thankfully, if you do want to head somewhere warmer where you can walk around in your birthday suit there are some options.
For a start, Spain is the home to Europe’s longest nudist beach while Florida apparently boasts a world-famous sandy bay where you can sunbathe with your skin to the wind.
However, good old Benidorm has pulled through for those Brits who are on a budget.
There are two main nudist beaches within spitting distance of Benidorm’s famous strip – but you should be careful which one you choose.
Platja Raco Del Conill
A little way away from Benidorm is Platja Raco Del Conill, a small and quiet bay that was once likely to be used by local nudists.
It’s a pretty cove surrounded by steep rocks and has a tiny sunbathing zone, and in the summer there is a small cafe.
However, furious Spanish posters on TripAdvisor claim that tourists and ‘textiles’ aka clothed people have ruined the beach.
One furious Alicante resident said: “A supposedly naturist cove but it is no longer. 90% textile that do not respect anything.
“People with dogs, drinking, paddle-surfers invading everything that you can't even dive, swim or anything. With Music at full throttle on the same tables. INCREDIBLE !”

While another added to the barrage and complained: “It was one of the jewels of the area for nudism. There was a lot of respect and cleanliness.
“It has become a textile beach where there are 2% of people doing nudism which makes you feel uncomfortable. It is no longer a quiet beach where you can spend the day. Many people.
“People who bring dogs and shake on your towel. And worst of all, people taking photos all the time.”
They added: “It's a shame that a cove like this is going to waste. There are many textile coves in the area and with fewer people so that they have to go to this one, which is nudist. “
It seems they could be right, as a man posted his review and noted: “Very nice place! However, a lot of balls and bare a***s that you weren't really prepared for.”
One peacekeeper noted: "Before being a nudist… it was for fishermen… it was not for non-textile nudists… it is not for one or the other… it is for people who like nature and respect each other."
If you’re looking to get your clothes off near Benidorm at a beach where the clothes-off aspect isn't questionable then we would recommend Cala Tio Ximo.
Cala Tio Ximo
Cala Tio Ximo may be the most popular choice for holidaymakers who like being naked and it's very close to the main part of Benidorm.
This beautiful bay has clear water and plenty of sunbathing spots to catch some rays on your… well wherever you like.
You can go snorkelling and swimming and of course be completely naked while you do so, while the beach isn’t massive it seems most visitors are both respectful and nude.
There is apparently a guard there too to enforce the rules.
One Irish visitor wrote on Tripadvisor: “I went there two days I was on holiday in Benidorm I found early in the morning there was mainly local men there but as the day went on the beach filled up with holiday makers with a good mixture of male/female couples, male couples and a few single male and females, there was a good mix of age there. 90% of the people there were nudist.”
A Brit from Nottinghamshire added: "Nice little cove away from the screaming hens and boisterous stag parties, not to mention the bleating kids of lazante beach. This one is clothing optional but, if that isn't a problem it's very peaceful.
“It’s certainly not easy access for anyone with mobility issues and if you feel seeing naked people is a problem for yourself or your children, you should stick to the soft sands of Lazante or Poniente and not this rocky little haven.”
Not everyone realised that the cove was a nudist haven however so do be prepared to point it out.
One woman exclaimed: “Beautiful quieter beach, but unfortunately full of nudist men!! Cannot use for this reason which is a shame.
“Feel sorry for the families with small children that wish to use this beach!”

A snorkelling fan had a brilliant time though and added: “In the middle of the bay on 7m deep there was a statue of a dog on the seabed. There was some fish and octopuses to see. We had a lovely here on that little paradise.”
You can get round trip flights to Alicante from just £32 in April.
Hotels can come up cheap too with prices as low as £36 at the Hotel Marina Resort Benidorm.
