‘Beautiful’ country with ‘low prices’ named ‘perfect’ destination

New research from loveholidays has found some of Europe’s best lesser-visited destinations where tourists can save on the price of a trip. Al Murray, chief marketing officer, said: “Not only do lesser-visited destinations typically feel less touristy, but luckily for holidaymakers they often come at a lower price too, making them the perfect option for budget-savvy travellers this summer.”

Hungary is a fantastic choice for British holidaymakers on a budget, offering a huge range of attractions to explore.

Al said: “Hungary is on the list, with its array of beautiful landscapes and lakes, plus hot springs and thermal spas to enjoy out of season.

“Travellers enjoy Hungarian cuisine at low prices in the capital city Budapest or soak in one of its many thermal spas.

“There’s also plenty to explore beyond the ruins of Budapest, including the rural freshwater Lake Balaton, situated in the west of the country and perfect for a day trip from the city.”

Hungary’s gorgeous capital city Budapest is a top river cruise destination and the ideal spot for a city break.

The city’s imposing Parliament Building was ranked the best tourist attraction in the world in a recent survey.

Tourists can explore the building on a 45 minute tour and check out some of its ornate architecture while they learn about the city’s history.

Some of the best views in Budapest can be found at the Fisherman’s Bastion which looks out over the river and the magnificent Chain Bridge.

Budapest’s ruin bars are world famous and tourists can pick up cheap drinks or have a dance in the unique buildings.

After a busy day of sightseeing, tourists should head to one of the city’s bathhouses for a relaxing spa session.

Gellert Baths are perhaps the most beautifully decorated while Szechenyi has the best outdoor space.

For a day trip from Budapest, tourists could head to Lake Balaton, a gorgeous freshwater lake, an hour and a half’s drive from the city.

Tourists can relax on one of the lakeside beaches, climb volcanic hills or tackle a hiking trail at the Balaton Uplands National Park.

Budget flights to Budapest are available from many of the UK’s major airports throughout the summer.

The flight takes just over two and a half hours from London and nonstop options are available on easyJet and Ryanair.

If Hungary doesn’t appeal, tourists could head to the Jewel of the Balkans and relax in beautiful Montenegro.

loveholidays also recommends Bulgaria for a budget break while Simon Calder said tourists can find great prices at North Macedonia’s Lake Ohrid.

Although tourists are likely to pay higher prices in destinations like Spain and Portugal, there are still deals to be found.

The cheapest destination to fly to in Spain in August is usually Malaga where tourists will have easy access to Costa del Sol beaches.
