French airline La Compagnie, whose planes feature all business-class seats, will commence flights between Newark and Milan Malpensa on April 15.
La Compagnie will operate the flight five times per week in a narrowbody Airbus A321neo equipped with 76 lie-flat seats and complimentary WiFi. Introductory fares, featuring full changeability and refundability, are now on sale for $1,800 roundtrip.
The route will be La Compagnie’s third to the U.S., joining Newark-Paris Orly and the seasonal Newark-Nice.
La Compagnie will compete against United in the Newark-Malpensa market. In addition, American, Delta, Emirates and Italian carriers ITA and Neos fly to Milan from New York JFK, according to Cirium flight-schedule data.
La Compagnie had previously planned to start the Newark-Milan route in late November but delayed the launch.
