American Airlines will continue its build-up in Austin this fall, adding 14 destinations from the Texas capital.

The routes include 10 domestic (including Puerto Rico) and four international destinations. They’ll follow seven year-round routes that the carrier is adding between May and August. 

On each of the 10 domestic destinations, American will offer at least daily service. Flights from Austin to El Paso, Texas; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Kansas City; St. Louis; Jacksonville, Fla; and Reno, Nev. will begin Sept. 8.  
American will launch Austin-San Juan and Austin-Oklahoma City on Oct. 7. Service to Tulsa, Okla., begins Nov. 2.

On the international front, American will begin four-times-weekly Cancun service from Austin on Oct. 7, followed on Nov. 2 by four-times-weekly service to Liberia, Costa Rica, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Thrice-weekly Austin-Puerto Vallarta flights will also begin Nov. 2. 

The increases mark a major boost to American’s Austin schedule. This month, American is serving 18 destinations from Austin, according to Cirium flight-schedule data. Prior to May, eight of the nine year-round routes American flew from Austin serviced the airline’s hubs. 

American was the second-largest airline in Austin, behind Southwest, for the 12 months that ended in February, according to the most recent Bureau of Transportation Statistics data.

During that time, Southwest had a 34.3% passenger share in Austin, while American’s share was 20.8%.
