The Halekulani Hotel, closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic and currently undergoing renovation, is slated to reopen Oct. 1.
After the property halted operations when the spread of Covid-19 prompted stay-at-home orders, management later announced the Waikiki resort would remain closed until at least July 2021 while they took advantage of the closure to execute a number of upgrades.
Now, hotel representatives say the property is slated to welcome guests again starting Oct. 1, according to a statement released at the close of April.
The “property-wide renewal continues to progress,” the statement reads. “In order to ensure the best possible environment and facilities for our valued employees and guests, Halekulani will reopen on October 1, 2021.”
The renovations include maintenance projects such as reinforcing the pool and installing new water lines as well as a refresh of rooms and public spaces.
While the renovation plans were already in the works prior to the pandemic, Halekulani Corp. COO Peter Shaindlin told Travel Weekly in July 2020 the shutdown caused by Covid-19 pushed up the timeline by a year or more.
Halekulani’s neighboring sister property, Halepuna Waikiki, is slated to reopen July 1.
