Nassau Paradise Island bids a farewell, and a welcome: Travel Weekly

The Bahamas bid farewell to Fred Lounsberry as he stepped down from 17 years as CEO of the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board.

During his tenure, Nassau and Paradise Island saw the opening of new resorts, including Baha Mar and the Margaritaville Beach Resort, as well as major enhancements at Atlantis Paradise Island, Sandals Royal Bahamian and other properties.

In 2019, prior to the pandemic, Nassau Paradise Island welcomed more than 1.3 million visitors. As the Bahamas slowly reopened after Covid, Lounsberry helped guide the promotion board to a strong recovery.

Taking up the post of CEO is Joy Jibrilu, the former director general of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

Before her post at the ministry, Jibrilu served as the director of investments at the Bahamas Investment Authority, a consultant to the former Ministry of Financial Services and Investments and a legal advisor at the Ministry of Finance.
