Mantis, a leading conservation-focused hotel group, has teamed up with South African global luxury travel tour operator Giltedge to create an Ernest Hemingway package. This new package is inspired by the Nobel Prize-winning author’s “Green Hills of Africa,” “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” and “The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber” as well as his big-game travels in East Africa.
In 1933, Hemingway and his wife Pauline Pfeiffer traveled to Africa for a two-month safari, which included a visit to the Serengeti where Hemingway camped out on the great plains at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, fished around Lake Manyara and finally went on to what today is the Tarangire National Park.
Following in the footsteps of the great writer in northern Tanzania, the nine-day package puts safari adventure front and center. Conservation and sustainability play an integral part too, with stays at ecolodges or camps which leave a light footprint and wildlife experiences that contribute to community upliftment.
The Hemingway-inspired package is subject to availability and starts at $5,695 per person, double, from July 1 through Oct. 31.
