Windstar Cruises has transformed a pair of its “classic suites” on the Star Legend into spaces inspired by two of the line’s sister hotels, the Broadmoor resort in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sea Island on the coast of Georgia.
The Broadmoor is known for pairing European elegance with Western charm, and its rooms include classic furniture, white trim with gold finishes and floral motifs. Sea Island exudes a Southern coastal vibe, and its room includes sea glass green throughout and curved arches. Both hotels and Windstar are owned by the Anschutz Corp.
Windstar plans to unveil similar renovations on its two other Star Plus-class ships, including the Star Breeze in the spring of 2023 and the Star Pride in 2024.
Chris Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises, said the pairing of hotel spaces with the cruise line can connect the brand to guests from the hotel spaces. “Unlike hotel brands that have begun offering yacht-style cruises, this is a unique example of a cruise line bringing a separate land-based experience to sea,” he said.
The 212-room Star Legend also has a new mural painted by Alex Nunez, a Cuban American mixed-media painter from Miami. The Star Pride and Star Breeze also have murals. All three paintings were selected by Fountainhead Arts, a Miami-based arts organization.
The Star Legend is sailing largely seven-day itineraries in the Caribbean until transitioning to longer sailings and repositioning for Mediterranean, Northern Europe and Iceland sailings for the summer and to the Persian Gulf in the fall.
