Virgin Voyages postponed the debut of its second ship, the Valiant Lady, from November 2021 to March 2022.
The line also delayed the Caribbean launch of its first ship, the Scarlet Lady, by a few weeks.
From March 18 through May 14, the Valiant Lady will sail three itineraries from Portsmouth, England. Cruises will visit Zeebrugge, Belgium (3-day cruise), the Canary Islands, Spain and Portugal (11-day) and Portugal and Spain (12-day). The ship will then head to Barcelona for a summer season in the Mediterranean.
Virgin Voyages canceled three Scarlet Lady sailings. The ship’s first Caribbean cruise is now scheduled to depart Miami on Oct. 6, in order to accommodate its U.K. season in August and factor in the transatlantic crossing.
Virgin Voyages had planned to start Scarlet Lady cruises from Miami in June. However, because of uncertainty about the CDC’s restart rules from the U.S., Virgin decided to launch from Portsmouth in August on sailings open only to vaccinated U.K. residents.
