Seabourn has canceled the July 15 inaugural sailing of the Seabourn Venture because the ship needs more time to prepare for service.
The line expects the Venture will begin sailing with guests on July 27, leaving from Tromsø, Norway.
“Despite the continuous work and substantial efforts at the shipyard, the ship is requiring additional time for final completion and inspections,” a spokeswoman said. “We are not willing to compromise on quality, safety or the guest experience, and therefore, we must regretfully cancel its first voyage.”
The expedition ship was originally due in June of 2021. Citing the pandemic and supply-chain issues, the launch was pushed back to December, then April, then July.
The ship was built at the T. Marioti yard in Genoa, Italy.
