Star-studded cruises seem to be all the rage as of late, after it was recently announced that Gwyneth Paltrow has partnered with Celebrity Cruises to bring her lifestyle brand Goop to the sea.

Goop is an American natural health and wellness company founded by actress Gwyneth Paltrow. Together, Ms Paltrow’s brand and Celebrity Cruises are creating the first Goop at sea experience with an 11-night wellness cruise.

New cruise ship Celebrity Apex will host the cruise taking place from August 26, 2020 to September 6, 2020.

Gwyneth Paltrow herself will join the Mediterranean holiday on August 30.

She will host a special onboard experience for the retreat goers alongside Goop’s chief content officer, Elise Loehnen.

Over the course of the Celebrity Apex wellness-at-sea cruise aboard, guests will have the opportunity to meet Paltrow, Loehnen and Goop’s very best healers.

Passengers will join an intimate conversation between Ms Paltrow and Ms Loehnen, three smaller group sessions led by expert talent (one for the body, one for the mind, one for the soul), and a closing keynote chat.

Throughout the sailing there will be “surprises and perks” along the way from both Goop and Celebrity Cruises.

According to Celebrity Cruises, “whether guests are looking to push past a block in a relationship, reconnect with their own body, quiet their inner critic, or find purpose, joy, or five minutes to de-stress, through transformative work, they will develop a toolkit that they can take with them off the ship and into their everyday life”.

Ms Paltrow, CEO of Goop, said: “We’ve had massive success with In goop Health, our wellness summit that translates goop’s content into a tangible, high-touch experience.

“This partnership with Celebrity Cruises allows us to bring goop to new audiences and to meet readers where they are. goop’s brand DNA is based in curiosity, and curiosity is an essential component of travel.

“With goop at Sea, we’ll be invoking that adventurous spirit with a series of transformative experiences led by a few of our most-trusted wellness practitioners and healers.”

Tickets for the Celebrity Apex go up to $6,000, as the voyage departs from Barcelona and makes stops in Spain, France and the Italian Riviera.

Some users took to social media to call out the prices of the cruise, with one commentator labelling it “out of touch”.

“Gwyneth Paltrow, in my opinion, is one of the most out of touch celebrities out there,” he tweeted. “$6000 a ticket is far too much!”

Another lamented the actress, calling the cruise “pretentious”.

“For that amount of money I’d expect more than just a few talks,” another user wrote. “Goop just reeks of pretension – and I’m already prone to seasickness so this definitely won’t help.”

According to Celebrity Apex website, passengers who book a $4,049 suite can purchase a $750 ticket for the August 30 event.

Additional lodging per person starts at $2,129 for Inside room, $2,849 for the Veranda room, $2,949 for the Concierge Class room, and $3,299 for the AquaClass room.
