MSC Group has partnered with Fincantieri on the construction of its new cruise terminal at PortMiami, scheduled to open in late 2023. The facility will be larger than the terminal MSC had originally planned.

The $450 million terminal, Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri’s first port project in North America, will be able to serve as many as three ships at the same time and up to 36,000 travelers per day. The original design, revealed in 2019, was to accommodate 7,000 guests and two mega ships at one time. 

Designed by the architecture firm Arquitectonica, the terminal is due to be completed by December 2023 and will accommodate MSC’s largest and most environmentally high-performing ships, including the MSC Seashore. The Seashore is nearing completion at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, and is due to launch from Miami in November.

The port also will accommodate the line’s future World Class ships, which will be powered by liquefied natural gas.

In line with PortMiami’s plans to enable shore power connectivity, all MSC ships deployed there will be able to plug in to the local power grid when berthed.

The terminal will have multilevel parking for at least 2,400 vehicles and a new road connection. MSC said that per the terms of the project, it will build two berths measuring 2,461 feet in total and that Miami-Dade County will build a third.
