Scenic’s second expedition ship is scheduled to debut on April 13 with an 11-day maiden voyage from Lisbon to Barcelona.
The 228-guest Scenic Eclipse II will include several features not found on the Scenic Eclipse. The ship will expand the steam room area to include aromatherapy, an ice fountain and experience showers, and a salt therapy lounge with heated beds.
The new ship will build on the popularity of the Eclipse’s infrared chairs to relieve back pain and relax muscles by expanding a dedicated infrared lounge and using color light therapy to reinvigorate skin cells.
The Eclipse II will also introduce a new bar with indoor and outdoor seating as well as oval-shaped pool.
Construction on Eclipse II began in May of 2020. The ship’s entrance into the market is part of Scenic Group’s plan to double its capacity in ocean cruising in 2023, which includes the debuts of Scenic Eclipse II and the Emerald Sakara. Scenic Group owns Emerald Cruises and Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours.
The ship won’t stay in one place long. The Eclipse II will sail a 12-day Arctic voyage on Aug. 2, a nine-day itinerary around Scotland out of Edinburgh on Sept. 13, a nine-day Caribbean itinerary on Oct. 23, a 13-day itinerary in French Polynesia and the South Pacific on March 31, 2024, and an 11-day Australia sailing on April 30, 2024.
During the Antarctica season, the ice-class ship will sail 15-day itineraries roundtrip out of Ushuaia, Argentina.
