Arnold Donald will step down from Carnival Corp. & PLC boards of directors at the end of the month.
The announcement comes three months after Donald, 67, stepped down as CEO of the company and handed the reins to former COO Josh Weinstein.
When Donald announced this spring he would leave his CEO position, he insisted he planned to stay active in his role as vice chair. “Nobody leaves this industry,” Donald told the audience gathered at the Seatrade Cruise Global Conference in April.
Donald at the time would not elaborate on what he would do after relinquishing his role as CEO. However, he said he was interested in other industries and may serve on “another board or two,” do some writing, explore “impact projects” and spend time with his grandchildren.
Donald began serving on Carnival Corp’s board in 2001. His resignation is effective Nov. 30, although he has agreed to provide counsel and advice to the company and its board through a consulting agreement.
