Located just a stone’s throw from Ipswich in the sleepy village of Tuddenham, Bailiff’s House is a quaint red-brick building boasting spaces to comfortably sleep 10 adults. Complete with a sauna, games room, library and “Gin Palace” – a quaint annexe to seek some solitude or perhaps a pre-dinner drink – this Suffolk staycation is the definition of luxury. I’m fortunate enough to be visiting for the Bed and Boursin experience – a truly gourmet getaway to savour.

Upon stepping into relaxation, guests get a flavour of the luxury to come as they’re greeted with an Instagram-worthy grazing table.

A rural retreat like no other, everyone is given their very own Bed and Boursin branded robe, plus a silky sleeping mask to get some quality shut-eye.

Nestled in Suffolk, it’s a short drive to the beach and there’s plenty of access to countryside walks from the cottage, but with extensive grounds for alfresco entertaining, dining and exploring, it’s hard to find the motivation to go too far afield.

Weaving my way through the private garden, which is home to a plethora of vibrant flora, I reach the old water mill – a small tower which used to be responsible for the water across the estate.

It sits between two ponds, offering up a majestic spot to sit and hear the birds sing softly.

I continue on my walk through this idyllic hideaway, admiring the never-ending backdrop of greenery, passing the tennis court before reaching the poolside.

For lunch, it’s a tasting platter of perfectly placed summer foods: Olives, crudités, cheeses, breads and dips, served alongside fresh fruits.

A gourmet getaway indeed, as Bed & Boursin’s private chef, Vernon Blackmore, has designed a resplendent seven-course tasting menu, demonstrating how to use the creamy and crumbly cheese in a wealth of ways.

Come evening, we’re lucky enough to enjoy his new creations during our stay.

The culinary journey begins with baked fig with honey, Garlic and Herb Boursin and panko breadcrumbs, followed by wild mushroom arancini with Garlic and Herb Boursin.

For those with a hankering for a burger during their summer staycation, Vernon has come up with an easy way to add flavour.

The “Juicy Lucy” sliders of mini beef burgers are topped with Garlic and Herb Boursin, and vegetarians can simply swap the filling for a meat-free version.

An immersive experience, Vernon explains how to make spinach, Boursin and pine-nut Filo-pastry cigars – something which would add a new dimension to every dinner party.

Vernon has proven Boursin needn’t be solely reserved for savoury dishes either – moving away from the garlic and herbs and instead adding flavour to a scrumptious clafoutis with Black Pepper Boursin.

For those recreating this thick flan-like batter dessert, it could be perfectly paired with cream or custard, depending on preference.

Inspired by the concoctions, we retire to the lounge, and relax on the plush sofas in front of the wood-burning stove, never wanting this experience to end.

When Monday rolls around, I extend my trip for as long as possible, taking a tour of the Ipswich waterside, where friends are meeting and families are celebrating, before reluctantly boarding my train back to normality.

Bed and Boursin

A spectacular, money can’t buy staycation, five lucky winners will also be given the opportunity to experience Bed and Boursin for themselves and seven guests, delivering the perfect “fromage and friends” holiday.

Launched on September 6, this nationwide competition to win a stay at the Bed and Boursin, invites entrants to share a creative dish with a Boursin twist to their Instagram account, tagging @BoursinUK and using the hashtag #BedandBoursin, for their chance to win.

The ‘Bed & Boursin’ private chef, Vernon Blackmore, will select winners across two draw dates.

Winners will be notified of their win by September 11 or 18, but an incredible two-night stay for themselves and seven guests isn’t the only prize they can expect.
