Air hostess reveals amazing perk of her job as a flight attendant

From flying around the world, to spending nights in far-flung cities abroad, air hostesses have a pretty sweet life at 36,000 feet.

TikTok star and social media influencer Kat Kamalani, who recently revealed why you shouldn’t you shouldn’t drink tea or coffee on a plane, has now explained the best bits about her gig – and it’ll have you wanting to be a flight attendant when this pandemic is over.

Posting a video to her TikTok account, Ms Kamalani said the biggest perk about her job is not only that she gets to fly for free, but so does her husband and even her parents.

“The biggest perk and why we all want to be a flight attendant is that you fly for free,” she said. “Your spouse flies for free, your kids fly for free and even your parents fly for free. And if you don’t have a spouse, you can allot that to a companion – it doesn’t matter who.”

While each airline operates differently, and not all benefits are the same, Ms Kamalani said she is also allocated six “buddy passes” each year to give to friends and extended family members.

“Every airline is different … but you sign up for a flight 30 minutes before, and you sit standby and if your seniority is high enough … based on when you’re hired and there’s a seat open … you get to go on the aeroplane.”

The video, which has been watched 31k times, was met with hundreds of comments from followers who want to drop their careers and follow in her footsteps.

But given the impact COVID-19 has had on the aviation industry, some were quick to question the timeliness of a career change in 2021.

Previously, Ms Kamalani said passengers should never ask for anything using hot water, such as coffee or tea.

She explained that this was because the tanks are never cleaned – and also positioned in an undesirable location, right near the toilets.

“The reason being is that those water tanks are never cleaned and they are disgusting,” she said in on TikTok.

“So talk to a flight attendant, we rarely, rarely drink the tea or coffee, they come from the same water tank and so when you’re drinking that coffee and tea it comes from that hot water and it’s absolutely disgusting.”

Instead, she said to only ask for things in bottles, such as bottled water and soft drinks.
