When it comes to stunning coastline and beautiful beaches, Australia is spoiled for choice.
But a new study has revealed that, compared with the rest of the world, one beach in particular is up there with the best and most photographed.
UK money site Money.co.uk analysed over 26 million Instagram hashtags associated with the world’s most popular beaches and calculated how many posts are shared per metre of that stretch of sand – the one with the most Instagram posts per metre being crowned the most beautiful in the world.

Unfortunately, while one Aussie beach did make the list, we’re not going to witness the most beautiful strip of sand in the world in person this year.
Taking out the top gong, Kelingking Beach in Nusa Penida, Bali is the most popular with visitors loving the 80m stretch of waterside paradise – which also features cliffs that resemble a T. Rex.
According to the study, there are 338,000+ photos of the sandy strip on Instagram, or 4227 pictures per metre.
But coming in second was Sydney’s Bondi Beach, which ironically has become the site of the country’s latest Covid-19 outbreak. According to the research, 1776 pictures were taken per metre.

Meanwhile, America landed three beaches in the top 20: Hawaii’s Hanauma Bay in sixth, Lanikai Beach in 17th, and Miami’s Bal Harbour Beach in 18th.
