You can buy a private island in the UK for £50k with dolphins and whales nearby

Have you ever wanted to own an island?

An uninhabited island off Scotland's remote north-west coast is up for sale with offers just over £50,000.

Càrn Deas is a 22-acre formation on the Sumer Isles archipelago which has a dramatic coastline with coves, cliffs and a shingle beach.

If you're desperate to really be away from people, your only neighbours will be dolphins, whales, basking sharks and otters.

When you want to eat you can catch anything from mackerel, cod, pollock to lobsters, crabs and langoustines.

As for the views, you'll get to glance at the National Scenic Area with the Outer Hebrides to the west.

Over on the north is the Coigach and Assynt mountains, while the Fannich and Torridon hills are on the south.

If you do start to get lonely, don't fret as you're just a 25-minute boat trip from the village of Achiltibuie which has 300 residents.

Glasgow is another five hours by car, and London, which is 650 miles away, will take about 12 hours to get to.

Estate agent Goldcrest Land and Forestry described Càrn Deas as "mystique, privacy, tranquillity and charm".

They called it a "remote sanctuary to the buyer seeking an escape to one of the country's most wonderful natural wildernesses".

Partner Fenning Welstead added: "The wonder of Càrn Deas lies in its natural undisturbed beauty.

"You can truly escape from reality, take a deep breath and enjoy what nature can offer.

"It is a lovely space to camp and live off what you've caught from the sea, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking or sailing by day."

If you want to build on the island, there's only room for a "small cabin or bothy" with subject to planning permission, the firm says.
