A new study by Cofton Holidays analysed the latest Met Office records and revealed Britain’s “most consistently hot and sunny holiday destinations”.
After studying the “sunshine hours” and average yearly temperatures over the past 10 years, the data revealed that Torbay is the destination with the most “reliably good weather”.
The area of Torbay, as well as other nearby locations around South Devon, offer holidaymakers the best combination of hot and sunny weather, according to the experts.
Other popular towns with reliably hot weather are Brighton, Bristol, Bath and Cornwall.
The study also named the coolest holiday destinations in the UK, with the “most reliably cool temperatures” found in Yorkshire Dales, the Scottish Highlands and Scarborough.
What do holidaymakers think of Torbay?
In Torbay, south Devon, the most popular town is Torquay, a small and charming seaside village with sandy beaches and “a distinctively Mediterranean feel”.
Torquay is a beautiful spot to visit with rich history, and Agatha Christie spent most of her life in the town writing her novels. Some of the best beaches around Torquay are Meadfoot Beach, Anstey’s Cove and Babbacombe Beach, according to Tripadvisor.
On the travel site, a visitor said Meadfoot Beach is an “unspoiled beach”. They explained: “We love Meadfoot Beach. There is a car park at one end of the road and cafe and toilets at the other which is everything you need for a visit to the beach.
“The beach itself is almost entirely covered at high tide but there is a large greensward within walking distance to retire to for a picnic or run around until the tide recedes. Perfect for a family day at the beach.”
