The Public Health Commission will debate whether to close the interior of hotel businesses. The rule would apply to hotels in regions with high Covid rates and hospital pressure.
A source told Europa Press: “It is about giving more relevance to the hospital situation in the evolution of the pandemic.
“The key point is the hospital issue, because right now the majority of infections occur in children under 11 years of age who do not go to the hospital.”
Party-loving Britons could also see their holidays impacted as Spain debates closing nightclubs at one am.
Nightclub guests may also be required to wear a mask at all times on the dance floor in Spain.
Restaurants, bars and cafes would also face new restrictions if the Government opts for the proposed changes.
Venues in areas with high rates would only be able to operate at 25 percent capacity indoors with a six people per table maximum.
Hospitality venues would also face an earlier closing time of 11pm which could have an impact on Spanish nightlife.
The hospitality measures would be brought in if the Covid rate reaches 300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
If cases reach the extreme level of 500 per 100,000 inhabitants, the new plans would close hotels.
Currently face masks are mandatory on all public transport and stations in Spain and regions may have their own local restrictions.
Face masks must also be worn in enclosed indoor public spaces and outdoor areas where social distancing cannot be maintained.
Fully vaccinated passengers do not have to take a test on entry to Spain while other passengers will need to take a PCR test before arrival.
Some Benidorm officials recently said they had to keep reminding British tourists to wear their masks.
Last week, an estimated 20,000 Britons travelled to Benidorm to take part in the annual Fancy Dress party.
The official event was cancelled due to Covid this year but that didn’t stop many British tourists partying in the resort.
Benidorm has been offering vaccines to tourists in the resort in a bid to control a rise in Covid levels.
Several European countries have now introduced restrictions as Covid rates soar across the continent.
Austria has just begun a full 10 day lockdown as the country struggles to encourage enough residents to get vaccinated.
Germany has also cancelled several of its famed Christmas markets as the country’s Health Minister said most Germans will be ‘vaccinated, cured or dead’ within months.
France is set to introduce new restrictions for over 65s without a booster jab in December. They will need to take regular tests to visit indoor venues.
