Flights are exciting when you head off on holiday but they can also be uncomfortable. Economy seats are particularly cramped and there's not much leg room to speak of.
Unless you manage to get an extra legroom spot you're likely to be crammed in with your fellow passengers. When you're flying for more than a couple of hours it can certainly wear thin.
Thankfully, most of us are willing to put up with the discomfort to reach our destination and with reasonable fellow flyers it's not too bad a journey. However, if the passengers beside you turn out to be unreasonable your flight can go from uncomfortable to a total nightmare.

While it only seems natural to have the armrest down when you're sat next to strangers, one woman claims that the man sat beside her kicked up a fuss over the ordeal. What happened next ruined her flight experience.
Apparently, once the woman pulled down the armrest before takeoff, the passenger beside her selfishly got revenge throughout the remainder of the flight to make her journey a misery. She discussed the behaviour online to the shock of fellow social media users.
Taking to popular forum site Reddit, the anonymous user explained: "Flew yesterday and ended up with some young adult male in the middle seat (I was aisle). Dude got to my row, pointed at the middle seat, and then just stood there."
The woman went on: "I told him he needed to move out of my way so I could get up. He scooted in, raised the armrest between his seat and mine, and plopped down.
"I sat down and lowered the armrest. He glared. I guess the armrest was constraining his body. Too bad. I paid for an entire seat.
"He then pulled a book from his backpack, reclined his seat… and spread his knees. I asserted my seat space but he PUSHED my left leg over and put his foot under the seat in front of me."
She continued: "I said 'excuse me – this is my foot/under seat bag space' (I had my smaller duffel under that seat) and he seemed surprised. He did move his foot but kept his knees spread to the max. My left leg suddenly became strong and anchored in line with the left side of my seat and I forced him to at least stop man-spreading into ME or my space.
"I'm female, btw, and easily fit into a regular airline seat without encroaching on others. I keep my knees and elbows to myself," she added.
Since sharing the thread online, the woman's post has raked in over 350 comments from people discussing the nightmare journey. Many supported her right to push back at the rude passenger.
One person wrote: "My wife told me this happens all the time when she flies alone for work. Guys are douchebags. Someone else said: " A**holes do it all the time. I hate it. It's a power play and nothing else."
One flight attendant previously revealed which passengers are entitled to the armrests – and it's good news for those who've been stuck with the dreaded middle seat!
