Spain is the leading European holiday destination for British tourists and with its huge range of gorgeous beaches, it’s not hard to see why.

While the country has so much coastline to explore, there are a few beaches that are particularly popular. According to Tripadvisor reviews, a beach in the Canary Islands is the country’s best.

Playa de Maspalomas can be found in Gran Canaria, the largest of the islands in the Spanish archipelago.

Often featured on postcards, the beach is particularly striking due to its golden sand dunes which stretch down to the water.

Tourists can relax on the golden sand, rent a jetski or pedalo or even join a dolphin watching tour from the beach.

A tourist ‘Kelly Anne’ wrote on Tripadvisor: “Incredible beach. We came twice during our holidays. Plenty of restaurants and snack bars. We had a lovely time.”

Tourists should be aware that a large portion of the beach is often occupied by naturists although people can be clothed.

Britons can fly direct to Gran Canaria from the UK and the islands are usually busy during the winter due to their unique climate.

Spain’s second best-rated beach is La Concha, in the north of the country in San Sebastian. The beautiful beach is right next to the town.
