Whether Britons are planning a permanent move overseas as an expat or want to try a temporary workcation, there are plenty of incredible destinations to consider.
According to a new survey from the expert team at Iglu Cruise, an Eastern European city known as ‘Little Paris’ is Europe’s best city for digital nomads.
The team looked at the average internet speed, nightly price of an Airbnb and the price of return flights from London to find the best destination.
Topping the list was the Romanian capital, Bucharest. The city has quick internet speed on average and Airbnbs that cost less than £60 per night on average.
The cheapest return flights to Bucharest from London were just £36 making it a quick hop back to the UK. It’s also just two hours ahead, perfect for digital nomads who need to collaborate with colleagues on a UK timezone.

An Iglu Cruise spokesperson said: “Famously referred to as ‘Little Paris’, Bucharest is rich in culture, history and amazing cuisine.
“Modern, lively bars and cafes contrast with neo-gothic architecture, museums and galleries. Considered to be one of Europe’s most affordable destinations, the Romanian capital is the perfect escape for a short break.”
Britons will find the price of essentials such as groceries to be far cheaper in Bucharest than in the UK.

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, was the second best choice for Britons looking to work abroad as expats. Airbnbs in the city average less than £73 per night.
A spokesperson said: “Home to many of Bulgaria’s best museums, restaurants, and clubs, Sofia is a great destination to visit for a working holiday. Tourists can enjoy some famous attractions including St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the National Museum of History and Vitosha Mountain.”
However, internet speed wasn’t quite as fast as in Bucharest although the price of return flights was cheaper at £25.
