Fiji will reopen to vaccinated travelers from the U.S. beginning Dec. 1. 

The South Pacific nation, which has closed its borders to tourism throughout the pandemic, is making the move after achieving a vaccination rate of more than 80% of its eligible population. 

Under the coming entry guidelines, adults will have to be fully vaccinated to enter. Unvaccinated children under the age of 18 will be able to travel to Fiji if accompanied by a vaccinated adult.

All visitors will also be required to provide a negative result from a Covid-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure. Travelers will also be required to take a rapid test 48 hours after arrival in the country. 

In conjunction with the reopening, Fiji Airways will resume service from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Nadi International Airport. The first flights leave San Francisco and Los Angeles on Nov. 30 and arrive in Fiji on Dec. 2.

Fiji Airways will fly daily from Los Angeles using new Airbus A350-900 aircraft and five times per week from San Francisco on Airbus A330 aircraft.

Twice-weekly Honolulu service on the Boeing 737 Max resumes Dec. 5, according to Cirium flight data. 

Travelers to Fiji can take advantage of the new Care Fiji Commitment, a World Health Organization-approved health and safety standard, including staying in certified resorts, using certified transportation and going on certified excursions.
