Three Americans found dead at Sandals Emerald Bay, Bahamas: Travel Weekly

Three Americans were found dead at Sandals Emerald Bay Golf Resort & Spa in Exuma, Bahamas, on May 6.

A fourth guest at the property was airlifted to a hospital, according to news reports. The guests were staying in two villas at the resort.

Detectives from New Providence, where Nassau is located, are on Exuma investigating the deaths of two adult males and an adult female. The State Department is monitoring the investigation into the cause of the deaths.

A statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force said that the police were awaiting autopsy reports to determine the exact causes of death, although foul play was not suspected.

Two of the individuals had reported feeling ill and received medical treatment the day before, according to the police.

Sandals issued a statement on May 6, saying, “Nothing is more important to Sandals Resorts than the safety of our guests. It is with deep sadness that we can confirm the passing of three guests at Sandals Emerald Bay on May 6, 2022. A health emergency was initially reported and following our protocols we immediately alerted emergency medical professionals and relevant local authorities.

“We are actively working to support both the investigation as well as the guests’ families in every way possible during this difficult time. Out of respect for the privacy of our guests, we cannot disclose further information at this time.”
