The majority of cruise passengers are there to enjoy a holiday and get along with their fellow guests. However, there are always a few who cause havoc onboard.

One Reddit user asked: “Have you ever gotten in trouble on a cruise? What happened?”

From fights to overdoing it at the bar, many cruise veterans shared their shocking stories of bad behaviour onboard.

One commenter said: “A guy threw all his girl’s luggage overboard on the second day of a seven day cruise.

“Everything was in there (money, passport, IDs). They put him in the hold for the rest of the cruise.

“He was led off the ship in cuffs when we got back to the home port. Funny thing though, his credit card was still on file for the room and she charged up a bunch of stuff.”

Unsurprisingly, chucking a partner’s luggage into the sea is enough to get a person thrown off a cruise.

Another user said: “My dad and his fiancé were in a huge argument on board. His fiancé threatened to throw her $20,000 (£14,775) diamond engagement ring overboard.

“Either my dad or his fiancé then threw his phone overboard. Then they were separated by staff and had different rooms for the rest of the cruise.”

While the arguing couple weren’t kicked off their cruise holiday, they probably had to foot the bill for a second room.

Despite their dramatic boat argument, the Reddit user confirmed the couple were still together 15 years later.

Many guests opt for an all-inclusive drinks package on a cruise holiday. Unfortunately, free flowing alcohol can lead to trouble.

‘Gurugru99’ said they were cruising with their wife while their parents had a separate cabin down the hall.

They said: “Every morning, I’d secretly alter my parents’ breakfast order they’d leave on their door.

“One night, after a bit too much to drink, I was walking by my parents’ cabin and saw their breakfast order for the butler.

“They just wanted coffee but I added a chocolate milkshake and 15 muffins. Butler was p*. Parents were p*. Muffins were delicious.”

Another said: “First cruise I ever went on, my brother’s best friend got in a fist fight with a man he thought had skipped the line at the late night pizza buffet.

“They rolled through a few tables and chairs and the families broke them up and the staff fixed the tables back.

“No one ever said a word to him but his drinking pass didn’t work the next day. Tequila is the devil for most.”

A former crew member said: “I saw a lot of guests getting in trouble because of many reasons such as domestic disputes, fighting drunk, harassment and stealing.

“If an incident takes place on international waters, then the maritime law is effective and more strict.”
