The government of St. Lucia has awarded its cruise port concession to Global Ports Holding, which has signed a 30-year deal to operate and upgrade facilities. There is a 10-year extension option.

Global Ports will invest in an expansion of the existing berth in Point Seraphine, which will enable the port to welcome the industry’s largest cruise ships, including Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class vessels. 

Global Ports will also invest in the transformation of the retail experience at the cruise port, including the redevelopment of the Vendor’s Arcade and the design and development of a new Fishermen’s Village at Bananes Bay.

The company will also make an investment into upland development at Soufriere Bay, including a new amphitheater and food-and-beverage area.

In the 12 months ending March 31, St. Lucia welcomed 590,000 passengers, down from 709,000 in 2019, Global Ports said. The completion of the extended pier and upgraded facilities is expected to lead to a rise in passenger volume to over 1 million in the medium term.

Global Ports Holding led the redevelopment of the Nassau Cruise Port in the Bahamas.
