Cruising with Jane McDonald: Presenter recommends river cruising

In an episode of ‘Cruising with Jane McDonald’, the former cruise ship singer, headed out to explore Vietnam and Cambodia on a Mekong river cruise.

The cruise expert boarded the Amadara vessel, a 302 foot ship, with 50 staff to care for the guests.

Jane was excited as soon as she saw the ship, saying: “I’ve seen balconies here, I’ve never seen that on a river cruise. I’ve right perked up now!”

The travel fan was also impressed by her cabin’s bathroom and exclaimed: “I’ve got a jacuzzi. I get very excited about bathrooms.”

Jane’s room had a balcony with table and chairs to enjoy the landscapes while she was even gifted a cuddly toy by the crew.

The cruise specialist shared a valuable piece of advice for any people new to cruise holidays.

She said: “Anyone who hasn’t cruised before or is a bit worried about seasickness, I recommend that you dip your toe into cruising with a river cruise.

“Because they are a lot more tranquil, also there is no motion sickness because it’s really flat. So you won’t feel seasick at all.”

Passengers will be able to see the shore at all times on a river cruise, which may make them feel more relaxed.

Jane landed in bustling Ho Chi Minh city to start her trip and was overwhelmed by the “endless things to see and even more to do”.

The shopping fan headed straight to a market and even picked up a new pair of shoes for her holiday.

Jane had a hair raising experience crossing the road, and was relieved to be onboard with a “beer in hand”.

Later on in the episode, Jane headed out to learn more about Vietnam’s silk industry and explored the temples at Angkor Wat.

The cruising pro also enjoyed tasting different local delicacies onboard the ship and meeting her fellow guests.
