Celebrity Cruises will launch a second ship from Florida this summer, with the Celebrity Equinox setting sail from Fort Lauderdale on July 25.
The CDC approved the Equinox to sail with a threshold of 95% vaccinated passengers. The ship will follow the Celebrity Edge, launching June 26, also from Fort Lauderdale.
The ship will sail seven-day cruises to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico, as well as Nassau, Bahamas. The Equinox was recently upgraded as part of the line’s $500 million fleetwide modernization program.
Celebrity Millennium milestone
With the Equinox, Celebrity now has plans to return nine of its 14 ships to service by September. The Millennium this week became the first large ship to operate a cruise in North America in more than a year, departing St. Maarten on June 5 on a seven-day sailing.
The Celebrity Apex will launch from Athens on June 19; the Celebrity Silhouette from the U. K. on July 3; three ships from the Galapagos (Celebrity Flora on July 3, Celebrity Xpedition on July 24 and Celebrity Xploration on Sept. 18); and the Celebrity Summit to Alaska from Seattle on July 23.
