Carnival Cruise Line resumed service this weekend from Tampa, and Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) from Port Canaveral, with both lines at or near half of their fleets resuming service.
The Carnival Pride departed Tampa on a seven-day Western Caribbean cruise stopping in Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico, as well as Belize and Mahogany Bay in Roatan, Honduras.
Carnival said that it has been sailing from Tampa for more than 25 years and was the first cruise line to sail year-round from the port, in 1994, with the since-retired Tropicale. The Pride will offer six-, seven- and eight-day Western Caribbean sailings. The ship will be joined in March by the Carnival Paradise.
Carnival said that more than half of its U.S. fleet is now back service and that all 22 of its U.S.-based ships will resume sailing by March.
The Norwegian Escape launched Eastern Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral, the eighth vessel in NCL’s 17-ship fleet to resume operations.
The Breakaway-class ship will offer seven-day cruises to visiting Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay, the company’s private island in the Bahamas.
