What has it been like reopening the hotel in the middle of a global pandemic? Any silver linings?

Our reopening last December was truly a community commitment and team effort on the island. The Malliouhana, Auberge Resorts Collection family came together to ensure our guests had the most luxurious hospitality experience possible with unparalleled attention and service. The Government of Anguilla has done a tremendous job in keeping the Island safe, and our guests really appreciate that.

Malliouhana is an indulgent hideaway—an art-deco gem welcoming those who seek relaxed Caribbean sophistication in an intimate, luxurious setting. From the moment guests enter the resort, a visual connection to the sea is created from the entry through the dramatic doors to the blindingly blue ocean. The color palette of mint, mango, saffron and white found throughout is inspired by Anguilla’s sugar-white beaches. It’s a very romantic destination for couples. The resort is also fantastic for families, as we offer so many experiences great for children, including snorkeling, paddle boarding, and more.

Malliouhana has such a sense of place—the minute you walk into the lobby you know you are at one of those iconic hotels. What do you think gives the property such a distinct identity?

I credit Malliouhana’s celebrated and distinct identity to our island hermitage and ideal location on the exclusive Meads Bay and Turtle Cove. Upon entering the resort, guests are greeted by Anguilla’s calm ocean breeze and Malliouhana’s gracious staff, unique experiences and extraordinary service. It’s the ideal island experience unlike any other in the world.

How would you spend a perfect day at Malliouhana?

There are truly so many things to enjoy at Malliouhana. We pride ourselves on curating incredible experiences that allow our guests to really get a taste of the true Island life. Some favorites of mine include our popular‘Catch‘n Cook’ culinary excursion. Our guests can enjoy a day of exploring the island’s reefs and coves at Sea while they learn how to fish. Later that evening, they’ll enjoy a specially prepared seafood dinner using their catch of the day. It’s truly a fish to table experience! We also have a Paddleboard by Moonlight experience where guests navigate through the crystal clear waters of Mead’s Bay while on a Lucid Paddleboard, allowing them to see the ocean in a brand new way.
