However, the royals each individually have their favourite holiday destination close to where they usually live.

The Queen:

Queen Elizabeth spends every single summer at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, and summer 2021 will be no different.

Princess Eugenie once said her grandmother’s favourite place is at Balmoral.
She said: “Walks, picnics, dogs, a lot of dogs, there are always dogs, and people coming in and out all the time.

“It’s a lovely base for Granny and Grandpa, for us to come and see them up there; where you just have room to breathe and run.”

Queen Elizabeth enjoys horse riding and grouse hunting whilst visiting the Highlands.

She also has to opportunity to see her family, with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall sometimes coming to visit.

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge:

William and Kate are spending their summer 2021 at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
In previous years, the Cambridges’ have jetted off to tropical places like Mustique.

However, they are staying much closer to home this summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, similar to much of the UK.

During the pandemic, the Cambridges’ spent much of lockdown at Anmer Hall instead of their usual Kensington Palace, because of the huge country grounds with lots of climbing frames to be enjoyed by the young children.

Duke and Duchess of Sussex:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently living in Montecito, California.
They will be remaining in LA this summer due to the pandemic with their two young children, Archie and Lilibet.

In their recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry revealed how the Sussexes’ enjoy cycling together, as well as spending time at the beach with their dogs.

Meghan also has her own chicken pen and vegetable patch, so this will keep the children busy too.

Prince Charles and Camilla:

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have a beautiful farmhouse called Llwynywermod Estate in Wales, where they often stay during summer.

The two barn conversions on the grounds are available to rent when not in use by Charles and Camilla, so locals can get a taste of royalty throughout the year should they wish.

Zara and Mike Tindall:

Zara and Mike Tindall went on holiday shortly after their daughter Lena was born in 2018, so the Tindall’s will surely want to get away for a break after welcoming baby Lucas earlier this year.

They make a trip to Balmoral to see the Queen, or make use of Sandringham House in Norfolk.

The Norfolk property is where the monarch normally spends her Christmas holidays but is often used by other members of the family to stay in during parts of the summer.
